About your Instructor
Jessica Choi ,a Honolulu piano and voice instructor since 2003 specializes in teaching all forms of music styles for all age groups. She teaches at the University of Hawai'i Music Department, at I'olani School in Honolulu (Get map/directions). and also at Pearl City Piano Studios (455-2131)on the Leeward side of Oahu (Get map/directions). Jessica Choi is currently now offering quality individualized piano instruction for children, high school students and adults. If she is unable to enroll you, she will refer you to another commendable music instructor. Jessica Hyo Jhong Choi received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Juilliard School and Master of Music degree from Northwestern University. Her principle teachers include Barbara Shearer, Marcia Bosits and the late Josef Raieff. As an active performer, Ms. Choi has given performances in the U.S., South Korea, Austria and has frequently appeared in concert halls in Hawaii such as Mamiya Theater, Paliku Theater, Orvis Auditorium and Hawaii Public Radio Station. Equally dedicated to teaching, Ms. Choi was on the music faculty at the preparatory division of the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University until returning to Hawaii in 2003. She also has taught at Chaminade University, and currently teaches at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Teaching Hours & Rates
Piano and voice teachers arrange a lesson time for applicants on a one-on-one basis, usually for a half-hour of coaching and instruction each week. Jessica Choi teaches at various piano studios weekday afternoons and evenings and weekends. The current schedule and available openings are listed below. A complimentary interview will be arranged to meet her in the teaching environment so that you can create an informed and fruitful decision of piano instruction for you or your children. Tuition, conveniently assessed by the month, is collected at the start of each month, and varies monthly, depending on the individual teacher's rates ($15-$25 @ ½ hour lesson)
